Roman Catacombs in Alexandria
Alexandria in the beautiful Egypt, was a part of the Roman empire and the largest city after Rome's capital,
That's the reason of many Roman artifacts in Alexandria one of them is the Roman catacombs,
located Kom El Shoqafa which means Mound of Shards, and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages
These catacombs, the largest known Roman burial site in Egypt, were constructed in the 1st and 2nd century AD, probably as a family crypt.
The beautiful Egypt, Roman catacombs in Alexandria is a mixture of the Pharaonic art overlapped with the Roman art of the city and the most magnificent models of funerary architecture. The cemetery was discovered by chance on September 28, 1900, although excavations began in this area since 1892, the chance came when a donkey fall in a hole and they were trying to check how the donkey fall to save it they found the great Roman Catacombs.
